Eye Makeup of the Day #3

Hello Readers : )

This is a very easy and neutral eye makeup look, perfect for work or school : )

First, I used an eyeshadow base. I like Mac's paint pot in Painterly, but Milani's eyeshadow primer is also good.

Next, I lightly dusted the light green (from E.l.f's Brightening Eye Color quad in Teal Dream) along the lid before going in with the gray shimmer shade.

Then I applied the white shade in the inner corners and below my eyebrows.

The brushes I used are E.l.f's Professional Blending eye brush and Sonia Kashuk 109.

I used the E.l.f brush to apply the green shade along the lid and also along the lower lash line. I used Sonia Kashuk's brush to apply the gray shade.

I then applied Kat von D's tattoo liner in trooper and the L'Oreal's Butterfly mascara.

Top 5 Favorite Lip Stains

Hello Readers : )

Lips stains are my most used lip product mainly for how long they last on the lips versus a lipstick or lipgloss. So here are my top five favorite lip stains.

First, there is Revlon's Just Bitten Lipstain+Balm in Flame and in Desire. The balm end of the product doesn't last very long, as I no longer am able to use it now, and I've had these products for over two years. The balms either fell out, melted, or got squished down. However, the stain is amazing. It lasts quite well on the lips, and the color is very pigmented. The Desire shade is more of a "your-lips-but-better" while Flame is a hot coral-red shade that is perfect for summer. The lipstains are not drying at all and can be used with or without the use of a balm.

Next, there is Revlon's Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in Crush. This is a more satin stain compared to the more matte stains mentioned above. It smells like mint toothpaste which is not bad at all, and feels very nice on the lips. I love this lipstain because although it is glossier, it isn't sticky, and is a beautiful, pigmented plum color, perfect for nighttime. : )

Next, I love NYC Smooch Proof Lipstain in Berry Long Time. This is a very simple stain, and provides a deep mauve plum color. Not much else to say, as it is similar to Revlon's lipstain + balm.

Lastly, I love the Balm's Stainiac lipstain in Beauty Queen. This has a very weird texture, and can be odd when applying it, but after a few coats applied, and a few seconds for it to dry, it is a beautiful "your lips but better" lipstain. It does have an odd smell, but I find this is the best lipstain that allows for multiple ranges in opaqueness. You can apply this very sheer or build it up, which is not something I found in the other lipstains.

Left to Right: Revlon's Lipstain + Balm in Flame, Desire, Revlon's Kissable Balm Stain in Crush, NYC Lipstain in Berry Long Time, and Stainiac lipstain in Beauty Queen

Eye Makeup of the Day #2

Hello Readers : )

This was the makeup I wore last week, only now  being able to write a post about it.
Its a very spring look with some light purples (as you will read on, I didn't use all the colors pictured).

First, I applied a base (not pictured). I used Mac's Painterly paint pot and then took my face powder (Rimmel Stay Matte in 003 Natural) to set it.

Secondly, I applied the lilac shade in the Revlon Illuminance Creme Shadow palette in 711 Black Magic. This is a cream shadow, as the name says and I used my finger to apply this along my lid. This is not a great cream eyeshadow on its own, but using it for the color and for the powder eyeshadow to stick on is great.

I then applied the light pink shimmery shadow from the Almay Intense i-color trio in 404 Smoky-i for greens all over the lid and under the brow bone. Next, I applied Almay's Softies Eyeshadow in 140 Vintage Grape into the crease for some definition. However, it is not very pigmented and I needed to dip my brush into the shadow a couple of times to achieve the definition I wanted.

Those were all the shadows I used in this look. The three other cream eyeshadows from the Revlon palette are okay; the black is great to line my eyes but does need to be set with a black eyeshadow as its rather wet and won't set and dry very well, and isn't very black. For the white and silver shade, I haven't found a use for other then to highlight the inner corners of my eyes if I needed to.

The other two shadows from the Almay Trio I also didn't use but only because I didn't need them and the main shade was too warm for the look I was going for. They are however really good eyeshadows. The trio I used is for green eyes, but I have brown, and I love it, so I don't think it really matters. Be aware however that in the picture of the trio on the website where you can buy it, the pink shadow on top looks cooler than it actually is and the main shadow is looks purple rather than red.

After the eyeshadow was done I applied my usual Kat Von D Tattoo Liner and Mac's Zoom Lash Mascara.

April Favorites

 Hello Readers!
This month as been okay when it comes to makeup. I don't have that many 'new' favorites, other than three products that are from Birchbox, but I did really love them. I do have some non-beauty favorites as well. : )

Beauty Favorites

Its a 10 Miracle leave-in plus Keratin Conditioner
I received this leave-in conditioner in a birchbox and it is the best one I have ever used. Although it is expensive, its just beyond fab. I apply it on damp hair, all over, and then brush it in. It makes my hair amazingly soft and if I go to bed right after applying it, I wake up with not only soft hair, but hair that is not frizzy, and when straightened, looks amazing. I highly recommend buying the smaller size just to see, as the full size is rather expensive.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Clear Brow Gel
I received this brow gel in my birchbox and I love it. Its clear, but doesn't leave any sort of obvious product on my brows. It keeps my brows in place and I have that it keeps my brows looking good, as I need them to since I wear glasses.

Cargo Blush Los Cabos
I also received this product in my birchbox, and its a gorgeous, bright coral blush color. Its shimmery but absolutely beautiful and I like to apply a little amount with an angled brush along my cheekbones and apples of my cheeks and then I blend it all in. Its gorgeous and provides the perfect summer color to my cheeks.

Wet 'n' Wild Coloricon "Reserve your Cabana" highlighter
This is actually more of a highlighter for my fair skin and is super gorgeous. Its not as shimmery as the very popular Mary-Lou Manizer by theBalm, but it is very gorgeous.

Forever 21 Makeup Brush
This is the brush I love to apply my highlighter with as its very soft and doesn't hold a lot of product, therefore allowing a very light hand. This is also really great for very pigmented blush. Its available in multiple designs at Forever 21 and is very inexpensive which is fantastic. :)

Mac Eyeshadow in Satin Taupe
This eyeshadow is the best shimmery eyeshadow ever because it can be applied all over the lip, in the crease, and below the lower lashes and looks absolutely amazing. Its sort of a taupe and a purple color and makes my brown eyes pop from behind my glasses which is always nice.

Non-Beauty Favorites

TV Shows:

Orphan Black

Season 3 came back on April 18th and it is still amazing! I love the diversity in the characters and Tatiana Maslany's talent is just beyond amazing. I don't want to give too much away but if you did not know, its a show about clones, particularly one named Sarah Manning who, in season one, finds out she's a clone, and so season one was sort of about her, and these clones and why they are clones. Season two was more about the company behind the creation of the clones and Season three is more about that, with some new elements and new characters added. Its an amazing show, and I highly recommend it. : )

 Daredevil
This show is available on netflix, and after seeing so much of it on tumblr, I looked into it and decided to watch it. I'm only four episodes in as each episode is about an hour long, but I am really loving it. Its about a blind lawyer named Matt Murdock who lives in Hell's Kitchen, New York, and he fights crime, or anyone whose disrupting his city at night. Its really really good so far and I highly recommend it.

*Both these shows mentioned are for mature audiences.*

Music: Marina and the Diamonds Froot

This album came out in March and for the past month, I have been listening to it non-stop. I love all the songs, its Marina's third album and I love it as much as I love her other two. There's something about her music, it just always means something to me.

My favorite songs on her new album are Froot, Can't Pin Me Down, Savages, Immortal, Blue, Better than That, I'm a Ruin, and Solitaire.

 Movie: Kingsman: The Secret Service

This movie was so good! Colin Firth-oh my god! I was really impressed with this movie. It had action and humor, and was really well written and directed. The actors were all amazing and the whole thing with Eggsy and the pug was really adorable! : )

That is it, for my April Favorites. What were some of your favorites this month? Comment below : )

Eye Makeup of the Day #1

This is the look I wore today. Its very fresh and green, and great for spring! ^.^

I first used Miliani's eyeshadow primer. This is a great drugstore primer that preps the eye perfectly and I find that this primer is tacky enough for eyeshadows to stick and not become a powdery mess.

Next, I applied a thin layer of Covergirl's Bombshell Shineshadow in Color Me Money.  This is a very metallic cream eyeshadow that helped the green eyeshadows from the palette stand out more. Its not a necessary step as the shadows are fairly pigmented to begin with, but I think it adds just an extra metallic shine to the eyelids.

I then used the Physicians Formula Custom Eye Enhancing Shadow and Liner palette for green eyes. Okay, so I don't have green eyes, but I love green eyeshadow, especially for spring, and so I first used the 5th color from the top, which is a medium hunter green and I applied this all over the lid. All these shadows are shimmery, but I find that they are not overly glittery. After applying that shade, I applied the light lime green into the inner corners of my eyes. I then applied the last shade pictured, which is a very dark olive green and I applied that in a v-shape on the outer corner, blending a bit of it into the crease. To help blend everything, I took a bit of the peach shade and applied it right over everything. This shade is not that pigmented, which allows for a nice, warmer shade to apply right below the eyebrow. These shadows are gorgeous and very easy to blend, resulting in little to no fallout. I have used this palette many times, creating light looks using the purples and also darker, smokey looks using the dark greens and dark brown (not pictured).

Next, I used the Kat Von D Tattoo Liner and created a clean wing. Personally, I like a bold wing because I wear glasses and wearing eyeshadow on its own doesn't work for me. But those who don't wear glasses, just wearing the eyeshadow and some mascara would look very nice. : )

Lastly, I used Mally Beauty Volumizing Mascara. This creates great lashes with no clumps and is smudge proof. I find this mascara dries fast and lasts all day.

The Final Look:

Top 5 Favorite Eyeliners

I love eyeliners; I own quite a lot, though these 5 are my all time favorite! : )

To start, I used to always wear gel eyeliner, and the one I love but is not pictured is the Rimmel London Scandal Eyes Gel Eyeliner. Its amazing, but it does take a bit longer to apply, so I haven't used it as much this semester, but I do very much enjoy it.

Now onto my top 5, the first one was the very first eyeliner pen I ever tried thanks to Birchbox, and that is Eyeko's Skinny Liquid Eye Liner in Purple. The applicator is the biggest one I've tried, so it can be harder to work with, but I found it easy once I got the hang of it. Its amazingly pigmented, the purple really makes my brown eyes pop from behind my glasses and its just the perfect eyeliner for the pop of color I need in my life.
The next two eyeliners are Stila's Smudge stick waterproof eyeliner in Stingray (Black) and Aubergine (Taupe-Purple-Mauve). These are amazing for a more grunge-look and are very easy to smudge. The one downside is that the tip is rounded, not sharp at all, so it can be difficult to get in the inner corner of the eye and to create a sharp wing on the outer corner. Other than that I love these eyeliners. They are great as liners, as eyeshadow bases, or just smoked out on the eye. : )

Lastly, I love the Kat Von D Tattoo Liner in Trooper (right picture). (Full Review here)
Its amazing and the blackest liquid eyeliner ever, its easy to apply and to get into the inner corner, but it is trickier to apply a sharp wing, so what I do is I outline the wing using my next favorite which is Jordana's Fabu-Liner (left) and this eyeliner can create the best, sharp wing ever and so after I outline my wing, I would go and fill in with the Kat Von D liner.

Those are my top 5 eyeliners, I hope you found this helpful! : )

March Favorites

First off, I am so sorry I haven't been more active the past month or so! School has been keeping me busy and I haven't had many ideas on posts but luckily there have been a few great products the past two months to review today : )

The first product I've been loving is Milani's Baked Blush in Dolce Pink. It is a gorgeous warm-pink with a hint of gold shimmer. It is gorgeous for spring/summer and I think it is the perfect, everyday blush that adds the right amount of glow to the skin.

The next product is a frequent mention of mine on this blog and that is Jordana's Color Effects Eyeshadow Powder in 08 'Perfect Team'. Its a white and black eyeshadow duo that is quite pigmented. Although I love the black for setting gel liner, this month I've found the white to be the perfect shade to sweep across my eyelids when I was really into the 1960s makeup look thanks to this amazing tutorial here.  Although its not the most pigmented white eyeshadow, its matte and definitely brings light to the parts of my eyelid that needs it when doing a heavy smokey eye look.

Thirdly, I've been loving Jordana's Fabu-Liner. Its a eyeliner pen with a long but stiff tip that is perfect for precise eyeliner work. Now although the pen is stiff and can be tricky to work with compared to my all-time favorite liner by Kat Von D, this liner is not only extremely affordable, but it actually is a very nice drugstore liner and can create a strong point at the inner and outer corners of my eyes. After I draw the outline of my cateye, I fill in with the pen by using the side of it rather than the point so it won't poke me in the eye.

Next, I've been loving The Body Shop's Radiant Highlighter. Its beautiful when used mixed in my foundation or just along the cheekbones and gives the most gorgeous glow ever.

Next, I've been adoring Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Concealer. When I first used this, I honestly didn't see what all the hype was about but then I started experiencing different ways with applying it and that's when I could see the difference. At first, I would use a small eyeshadow brush like the Real Techniques Deluxe crease brush but I found it clung to my skin in an odd way and then if I tried to apply it with my fingers, it just was too wet to work with. Now I use my foundation brush, which is the Real Techniques Buffing Brush and just stifle it into my skin.

Lastly, I have been loving Milani's lipstick in Sangria. Its a beautiful deep purple color and even though its spring, I love darker colors and this is a warm, beautiful plum-oxblood color.. It feels nice on the lips and doesn't transfer and just simply looks stunning.

Non-Beauty Favorites

The movie I saw this month and loved was HBO's The Normal Heart.
It made me cry my eyes out, so you will need tissues, but its such a beautiful, touching movie about something that was incredibly tragic.

I've been loving three TV shows this past month and that is RuPaul's Drag Race, the CW's iZombie, and Friends.
RuPaul's Drag Race season 7 is amazing and hilarious! I am loving Max and Violet Chachki, though she can be a bit 'shady' sometimes. ; )

Friends is a hilarious show now available on Netflix and I am already on season 6 after starting it in the beginning of February. Its easy to watch and is relaxing and just a very good show. : )

iZombie is new and so I've only seen two episodes but it is so damn good! Its not your typical zombie show; there isn't a lot of blood and guts, but its like a detective show where the detective gets help from the medical examiners but it just so happens that the medical examiner is a zombie who can see 'visions' from the dead victims after she eats their brains.

I am reading 5 books at the same time right now, but there is one that I have been really enjoying and that is Cheryl Strayed's Wild: From Lost to Found on the Pacific Crest Trail. I find it very touching story and am half way done with it!

That is it for my March favorites, thank you for reading. : )
