Burgundy!

Hello readers!

It's mid-October and time for the burgundy shades! Although it still feels like summer here in Southern California, a warm burgundy shade always gets me into the autumn mood, whether its a light cardigan, a lip color, or on my eyes, burgundy is the best autumn color.

Pictured here are my favorite burgundy products. First there is the rather expensive Estee Lauder Blush in Intriguing Plum. This is a very pigmented blush, so a very fluffy brush is great to use to apply this along your cheekbones. It it a satin blush and will look great on every skin tone. I also like to use this as an eyeshadow with a base such as Maybelline's Color Tattoo in Pomegranate Pink and a warm brown in the crease, such as the Body Shop's Honey Bronzer.

There is also E.L.F.'s Baked Eyeshadow in Burnt Plum, which is pretty much identical to the cream eyeshadow by Maybelline, but less metallic and more satin. Its gorgeous and easy to blend.

Then there is Mac's lipstick in Hang-up which is a gorgeous creme-sheen lipstick. It can be worn sheered out or packed on for intense berry color.

Pictured below are the eyeshadows applied on my eyes with a touch of the blush in the crease with Kat Von D's Tattoo Liner and Covergirl's The Super Sizer Mascara

Burgundy is such a great autumn shade and can be worn in clothing, makeup, hair, ect!

September Wrap Up

Hello Readers!

For the month of September, I read a total of three books, which I think is great, given school resumed in the last week of August, and I've started a new job.

The first book I read was Just Listen by Sarah Dessen. I did a full review on this book which you can read here, but in short, I really enjoyed this novel. It took me the majority of Septmeber to read because I was adjusting to my change in schedule, but I really loved the story and the characters and the overall theme.

5/5 stars

The next book I read was Nimona by Noelle Stevenson. I read and finished this book in a day! Its my first graphic novel and I loved it. It has humor, sarcasm, and amazing characters. Its just perfect! The artwork is fun and great, and overall, its just so entertaining. Just go read it! : )

5/5 stars

The last book I read was Freak Show by James St. James. I first read this in high school; (saw the bright pink cove, was intrigued, read the synopsis, more intrigued, read it, loved it) but wanted to read it again (and have my own copy) and see what I thought about it now after 4 years. An I gotta say, I still really love it. Billy is the main character who moves to Florida and goes to a conservative private school and the book is about his adventures as not only the school's first openly gay student, but also its first drag queen. Billy is full of life, energetic, fabulous and his dialouge throughout the whole book is very entertaining and while reading the book, it sometimes feels as if he is talking to the reader, which he sort of is because he does mention 'you', but sometimes it feels very personal and you want to cheer for him and want to know the ending of this adventure. This book is very fun, and entertaining and I'm really glad I re-read this. : )

4/5 stars

Currently Reading
At the end of September, I started We Should Hang Out Sometime by Josh Sundquist, but have not finished it in time, so I will include that in my October Wrap up. : )

Thank you for reading : )

Book Review: Just Listen by Sarah Dessen

"Music is a total constant. That's why we have such a strong visceral connection to it, you know? Because a song can take you back instantly to a moment, or a place, or even a person. No matter what else has changed in your or the world, that one song says the same, just like that moment.”

Hello Readers!

This is a book review for Just Listen by Sarah Dessen

I have owned this book for nearly ten years and never picked it up, and I am so glad I picked it up now, as I relate to the main character so much, and I understand much of the different conflicts the character goes through now that I'm an adult.

First off, I am terrible at giving synopises for books without spoiling it, so here is the synopis from goodreads:

Last year, Annabel was "the girl who has everything" at least that the part she played in the television commercial for Kopf's  Department Store.

This year, she's the girl who has noghitng: no best friend because mean but exciting Sophie dropped her, no peace at home since her older sister became anorexic and no one to sit with at lucnh. Until she meets Owen Armstrong.

Tall and dark, and music obsessed, Owen is a reformed bad boy with a committed to truth telling. With Owen's help, maybe Annabel can face what happen the night she and Sophie stopped being friends.

Firstly, the writing is great; it is simple and easy to read and I didn't have any problems with it. At first, I was having trouble understanding what time it was; there are many flashbacks, but as I contiuned on reading, not only does it get easier in determining what is past and what is present, I also found the flashbacks helpful in understanding Annabel's character and her character devolpment.

Secondly, I related to Annabel so much, I was rooting for her from the start. She's a very introverted character who has a problem with confrontation and holding things in to spare others' feelings. Owen is very different but he is not your stereotypical bad boy. He is very honest, but realistic. He comes from a normal family and has problems that many authors I dont think touch on when it comes to the 'bad-boy' trope.

In conclusion, this is a fantastic book about growing up, family, friendship, and the simple act of just listening.

**Trigger warning for depictions of rape/sexual assualt**

I gave Just Listen by Sarah Dessen, 5/5 stars

Eye Makeup #4: Soft Blue Smokey Eye

Hello Readers!

This is a quick eye makeup look with some products that I've been testing out.

The first product I used is an eyeshadow palette by Lorac that I got for Christmas last year I believe so I don't believe it is available anymore, BUT have no fear,  I only used one of the eyeshadows, so you can very easily find a dupe. The shade I used is a medium blue that can be used very lightly for a soft look, or much heavier for a makeup look that can be worn at night. And because it is a simple matte blue shade, you can easily find a good dupe from Mac or ever a drugstore brand like Covergirl, since the look is not complicated.

I apply the blue eyeshadow to the outer part of my eyes just to add more depth and make my eyes pop from behind my glasses. And then I apply Jordana's Fabu Liner in black which is not the blackest eyeliner, and the applicator is not as flexible but it does allow you to create a very nice, sharp flick. The mascara I used was Rimmel Scandalous Mascara. I've had this for a while and I got to say, my final opinon is that it is not that great. I think because I'm used to  the amazingness and have complete love for Mac's Zoom lash mascara, any other is just not as great.

So, this was a very quick blog post, I hope you enjoyed, and next week, I'll have my second blog post about books! : )

Thank you for reading : )

August Favorites

Hello Readers!

I only have four makeup items to share with you, so this is going to be a very quick blog post.

My first favorite is Rimmel London's Match Perfection foundation. I usually use Revlon's Colorstay foundation, but I've been finding that a bit too heavy for summer and so I decided to re-try this one and I love it! It feels slippery a bit more than the Revlon one, but is much easier to blend, and does not look cakey. It matches me perfectly and can give light to medium coverage. And on top of that, I've been loving an old fave and that is Rimmel London's Stay Matte powder. I vary between using the translucent shade and the next shade after that, but this powder is perfect and I like to dust that everwhere on my face and then spritz a makeup setting spray (I've been using E.L.F's setting spray recently).

I ran out of my NYX eyebrow powder, so I tested the Wet 'n' Wild Brow Kit, which comes with two brown shades: a warm medium brown and a darker, more cool-toned brown and a wax (which I have not tried). I mix the brow powders on my brush and then use the lighter one to fill in the front of my brows and the darker one to define them more near the arch, and then comb through them with a spoolie. I love this product and I think it's much better than the NYX one because it comes with two distinct shades that can be used very well together.

Lastly, I've been loving Urban Decay's Naked Cheek palette, particularly the highlight shade. Its a beautiful pink-toned with gold shimmer and is the perfect everyday highlight. The blush and the bronzer are great too, but this past month, I've been using the highlighter much more often.

As for Non-Beauty favorites, I made a post all about the books I read in the summer which you can read here. I don't have a favorite book this month as I finished The Martian on the first of August and the book I read after that, I gave 3/5 stars; it wasn't my favorite but I liked it. I am currently reading a very good book and so that will probably be in my September favorites.

As for TV and movies, since its summer not much as been on but I did catch up with Pretty Little Liars and I enjoyed the finale very much; I think it was very well tied up and resolved and I did like the ending but I just wish they didn't continue with the show. I think if they just ended the show with the girls going off to college, that would've been a nice ending for the entire show.

So, that is it for my August favorites! Thank you for reading : )

Books i read this summer

Hello Readers!

I've decided to change things a bit on this blog; along with posting makeup reviews, I want to start including posts about books, and soon, some fashion as well.

So for the first post that's not about makeup, I'm going to go through all the books I've read this summer! : )
May - June

I'm starting with May, because my school semester ended right in the middle of May, so technically that is when summer started for me.

The first book I read in May actually was the first in a series, and I did start it in March, but because of school, it took me a while to finish it, and that was Across the Universe by Beth Revis. This is a YA science-fiction novel, set in a dystopian society and is about a 17-year old girl named Amy who decides to become frozen along with her parents and put onto a spaceship called Godspeed, which will take 300 years to get to the new planet, however things don't go has planned and Amy wakes up about 50 years too soon and has to figure out this new society aboard this ship and solve the mystery behind all these secrets that are being kept. I really enjoyed this here
book, I really liked Amy as a character and the romance suggested is very subtle and doesn't appear as much until later on in the books. I really liked
all the other characters as well, and the plot was very well written. For a more in-depth review, go

The next two books I read were the last two in the Across the Universe triology, and they were  A Million Suns and Shades of Earth. Since they are part of the series, I don't want to spoil anything but if you want to, you can read my review for the second book here and the third book here, but just be warned, although the reviews don't contain spoilers, the plots mentioned in the synopsis are technically spoilers. : )

**Content warning for this series as it does contain sexual assault and mentions of past rape**

I gave Across the Universe a 4 out of 5 stars, A Million Suns a 4.3 out of 5 stars, and Shades of Earth 4 out of 5 stars.

And the last book I read in June was Two-Way Street by Lauren Barnholdt. Since Across the Universe was incredibly emotional for given its a series and I seriously get invested in characters and their lives that I hate it when a series ends, I wanted to read a summer-y, contemporary read and sadly, Here is my review for it on goodreads.
this did not do that for me. This is about a high school graduate who goes on a small road trip with her ex-boyfriend. It sounded fun, cheesy and cute but the characters ended up being very dull, immature, self-absorbed, and there was way too much slut shaming in this book. I really can't say much else about it, since I read it two months ago and really did not like it.

I gave Two-Way Street 1 out of 5 stars.

July
The first book I read in July was Simon vs The Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli. I was really looking forward to this book and it did not disappoint. This is about a not-so-openly gay teenage boy who communicates with a fellow student via email, but he does not know this person's real identity, nor does the boy, who is called Blue, know that he is talking to Simon. Simon's emails with Blue are then found by a bully and Simon is then blackmailed. This book is not as serious as you may think, but is the cute, contemporary read I've been wanting all along, though I think it would be really fun to read around Autumn/Winter time, as that is when the novel is sort of set.

My goodreads review here

I gave Simon vs The Homo Sapiens Agenda 4.5 out of 5 stars.

The last book I read in July, I actually started it before Simon vs the Homo Sapiens Agenda, but was having difficulty at first so I put it down, read the other one first in about two days, and then picked this one up again and I'm so glad I did! The Martian by Andy Weir is about an astronaut who gets stranded on Mars and the whole book is told from his logs that he enters himself, along with the perspective of the people of NASA on Earth. This book is filled with some science stuff that I didn't understand and was why I was having trouble at the beginning, but the character, Mark Watney, was so incredibly funny that it made reading it much more enjoyable. For my review about my thoughts on this book, go here

I gave The Martian 4.5 out of 5 stars.

August
The last book I read this summer was Everything Leads to You by Nina LaCour. This is about a recently graduated high school student who, because of her brother, as an internship with a production company and helps design movie sets. She lives in Hollywood/L.A, and upon finding a letter of a recently deceased film star, she ends up on search for answers and this novel deals with heartbreak, love, friendship and little bit of mystery. I was honestly a bit disappointing with this novel. The characters seemed a bit flat to me, and there wasn't really any noticeable character development, in a positive way anyway. Not to spoil anything, but a certain character I loved instantly actually developed a bit odd and I ended up not really liking them at the end. It was really the plot that kept me going because I wanted to know all the answers and so that why I gave Everything Leads to You 3 out of 5 stars.

Goodreads review here

Currently Reading
I am currently reading a contemporary novel that I had hoped to include in this post, but school started today, and I had been working the past three days, so I didn't get much reading done. That book is Just Listen by Sarah Dessen, and I'm really enjoying it so far! : )

And that is all I read this summer! I read a total of 7 books this summer, which I'm really happy about! Let me know in the comments what you read this summer! : )

Top 5 Favorite Lip Glosses

Hello Readers!

Now, I'm not the biggest fan of lip glosses for the main reason that they can feel heavy or sticky on the lips but there are a some that I have grown to love. ^.^

Basically, I'm rather picky when it comes to lip glosses, but that's okay, lets get on with my top 5.

Revlon Super Lustrous Lip Gloss in Belly Allure is a bright purple-pink that feels great on the lips and wears off nicely within 1-3 hours, depending on what you are doing. There is not obvious or annoying smell which is nice and the application is easy.

Revlon's Colorburst Lip Gloss in Peony is a very shimmery, coral pink lipgloss, that is great for summer. Its a beautiful shade and feels nice on the lips. There is a slight more obvious scent to it.

Tanya Burr's Lip Gloss in Enchanted Forest is a very dark red-purple shade, that feels great on the lips, does not have any shimmer to it, but it does have a very strong scent that I'm not a fan of, but the payoff of the color is gorgeous, so I'm not completely bothered by it.

Laura Mercier Lip Glace in Opal  is a beautiful nude shade with slight shimmer in it. Its neutral and looks good with every makeup look. It smells like sugar cookie, which is nice and to me, its not obnoxious.

Covergirl Colorlicious Lipgloss in Berrylicious is more of a neutral pink shade rather than berry but its still very nice and neutral, just with no shimmer. To me, its a 'my lips but better' shade which is great.

So those are my top 5 favorite lipglosses, I hope this was helpful.

Thank you for reading! : )

July Favorites

Hello Readers!

This past month, I've been loving a few beauty products as well as two books, and a TV Show! : )

Makeup

First off, I've been loving E.l.F's Maximum Coverage Concealer. Since its summer, I don't really want to wear foundation, so this concealer is a great alternative. Its easy to apply, great at concealing my redness, and doesn't feel heavy on the face.

And since it is summer, having glowy cheeks is always good, and this sample I have of theBalm's Hot Mama blush is the perfect summer shade. Its a bright coral-pink shimmery shade, and I apply it along my cheekbones and on the the apples of my cheeks as both a blush and a highlighter.

For the eyes, I have been really loving Rimmel London's Scandal Eyes in Rich Russet. Its easy to apply, and it being cream, it lasts very well in hot, humid weather. The only primer I've been using is E.L.F's white eyelid primer, which applies sheer, with a faint shimmer to it, so if it were to be worn alone, it simply but beautifully brightens the eye, so you don't necessarily need to add an other eye product.

Lastly, I've been loving Essie Nail Polish in Naughty Nautical.  Its a beautiful teal shade, and lasts very well for 3-5 days. : )

Non-Beauty Favorites

This past month, I've been loving season 3 of
NBC's Hannibal. The cinematography has been beautiful, its been written amazingly, and I'm quite upset its been canceled, and this will be its last season.
(Keep in mind it is dark and may not be suitable to everyone.)

For books, I've read two this month.

Simon vs the Homosapeians Agenda, which was a very cute read, and you can read my review for it here.

The Martian was the second book I read this month, though technically I finished it on August 1st, I'm still including it, because it was so incredible, and funny, and I cannot wait for the movie! You can read my review here

That is all for my favorites for the month of July, thank you for reading :)

Vacation/Holiday Makeup

Hello Readers!

I'm going on a vacation for a few days and thought I'd quickly show what makeup I'll be bringing. : )

Because it will be rather hot out and I'll be staying on a boat, I decided to forgo foundation, and just bring E.L.F's Maximum Coverage Concealer because it feels light on the skin, but is great at covering up my redness and any blemishes I may have. I'm bringing my Rimmel Stay Matte powder to set my makeup, and The Body Shop's liquid highlighter and Honey Bronzer to have a very summery glow. To had a very warm coral color to the cheeks, I'm bringing a small sample size I got from Birchbox of theBalm's Hot Mama Blush.

For the eyes, I'm keeping it simple and just bringing an e.l.f eyelid primer, and Rimmel's Scandal Eyes Shadow Paint in Rich Russet, which is a warm, shimmery brown/mauve shade.
I'm also bringing Maybelline Pumped up Colossal Mascara for some volume and Jordana Fabu-liner because it's cheap, and easy to use, and it's not the blackest eyeliner, so it won't be very dramatic looking while lying in the sun. : )

For brushes, I keeping it simple with just a Real Techniques powder brush.

And that is all I'm bringing on my vacation, I hope you all have a lovely weekend.  : )

Thank you for reading!

Summer Lip Products

Hello Readers : )

Summer is now and so and its the perfect time to pull out the bright, fun lip colors! : )

Reds/Oranges
For a night out, or simply keeping it classy, a red lip is always the best. Here are some that are my favorite : )

Revlon's Super Lustrous Lipstick in 440 Cherries in the Snow
Despite the name, this is a gorgeous, classic red. Like most of Revlon's lip products, this feels amazing on the lips, fades evenly, and applies easily. This red is a cool toned, true red with a slight pink undertone that would look great on all skin tones.  Its a great red for anytime of the summer. ^.^

For a more brighter red, try Revlon's Super Lustrous Lipstick in 830 Rich Girl Red.
This is a brighter, more sheer red, and more warm than the cherries in the snow one. It has the same texture, but is sure, while the other one is more pigmented. It gives off a glossier look, while the darker one is more satiny.

For a much more orange shade, try Chosungah22 Flavorful lipstick in Jello Orange. This is a true orange color, with a slight yellow undertone. This lipstick can be quite bright, and so blotting the lips after application will sheer out the color, but also take away the unflattering glossy sheen when too much product is applied. Blotting your lips will also give it more of a stain appearance, with looks very fun and summer-y. : )

Pinks/Purples
The next two shades are from the same line of lipsticks, and that is L'Oreal's Color Riche lipsticks in 171 Pink Cashmere and 175 Violet Chiffon. Both apply sheer with build-able color and are very easy to apply to the lips. The pink cashmere one is much cooler in tone than the packaging suggest, but is a beautiful pink with blue undertones. The violet one, although a rather cool purple on the packaging, is actually a very true lilac purple. Its very fun but because its sheer, is very wearable and my favorite out of these two.

Next, for a more pigmented cool-toned pink, try Pixi Shea Butter Lip Balm in Pixi Pink. Its a very fun pink color for summer, and is very easy to apply, given it is a lip balm.

For a more purple toned lip balm, try Almay's Smart Shade Butter Kiss in Berry-Light. I did a more in-depth review here.

For a lip product that would last through a very hot day, try Mirenesse Mattifinity Lip Rouge in 8. Sydney.
This is actually really easy to apply, though I do suggest giving it some time to dry so it can set and won't budge. The color is a very dark magenta, with a slight red tone. Its cool, its bright, and its perfect for summer nights :D

Lipglosses

Revlon's Super Lustrous lipgloss in 225, Berry Allure is a very glossy, bright purple with warm pink undertones. I its a gloss, but is not sticky, and is a glossier version of the Mirenesse lip rouge, but with a more purple tone to it. This can be worn sheer, or build up for more intensity.

Lastly, for a 'barely there' kind of makeup day, there is Laura Mercier Lip Glace in Opal. This is a beautiful medium nude shade, with slight gold shimmer. Worn for the day, or out at night with a smokey eye, this lipgloss is the perfect summer lip product. : )

So, those are the lip products I recommend for summer, thank you reading!  : )

Eye Makeup of the Day #4

Hello Readers : )
This is a fun, simple summer makeup look. I was going through my collection of eyeliners and found quite a few that I have not used very much, many being from birchbox, so I thought I would create a fun, easy eye look using some of these products. : )

I first applied a base, (Mac's paint pot in painterly). I then lined my eyes with Marcelle's Waterproof Eyeliner in Blue Lagoon, which I got in my June Birchbox. This liner is really creamy, super easy to apply and is a very gorgeous bright blue. I then lined my lash line with my usual Kat von D tattoo liner in trooper. Next, I applied a new favorite mascara, Mirenesse iCurl which I had gotten in a birchbox a couple of months back. Lastly, I applied Cynthia Rowley's eyeliner in silver. This is a very creamy eyeliner and one of the few I have found to be easy to apply to the waterline, which I did. It's not very noticeable in the photo, but this liner adds some fun to the eye makeup look, especially when the light catches the sparkle.

And this is the final makeup: (pardon the eyebrows) : )

Thank you for reading :)

Summer Blushes

Hello Readers : )

Its getting warmer here in Southern California, and time to use some more pink, shimmery summer blushes. : )

I love wearing blush to look more like I've been in the sun and the following blushes are my favorite to achieve this look.

E.l.f blush in Pink Passion is a gorgeous, matte hot pink shade. I like to apply this with a brush that isn't very dense, like the forever 21 brush I mentioned here. Because this blush is quite pigmented, a light hand is key when applying. This particular blush is great when applied on the cheekbones and a very light dusting along the temples and bridge of the nose, like you would a bronzer, to get a look as if you just been out in the sun.

NYX Blush in Rose Garden is a warm toned pink, with a bit of coral shimmer. This is a beautiful blush and is nicely pigmented, though a light hand or brush that isn't very dense would be best. This blush looks gorgeous along the cheekbones as well as swirled around the apples of the cheeks for a youthful flush and glow.

Milani's Baked Blush in Dolce Pink is a bit similar to the NYX blush, but isn't as pigmented, and has more gold shimmer rather than coral. Because it isn't as pigmented, it is very easy to apply along the cheeks without looking like a disco ball. This blush would be perfect for days when you're going to the beach and are wearing minimal makeup.

Maybelline's Fit Me! blush in Deep Coral is as the name suggests, a coral shade with very small amounts of shimmer and probably the most "every-day" blush" out of all these. This is the blush you could wear with more sophisticated makeup, and still look like you've been in the sun. It's nicely pigmented and is very gorgeous on the skin.

L'Oreal Visible Lift Blur Blush in Soft Peach is a cream blush. There is no shimmer, just a very gorgeous peachy-coral color. When applied, it gives a very healthy, natural color to the cheeks and is prefect for warm, summer weather.

Ulta Extreme Wear Blush in Peach Glow is a cream blush with shimmer, although the packaging says 'matte finish', I find this blush does not ever look matte. Compared to the L'Oreal cream blush, I would apply this with a stifling brush rather than my fingers to get the best look possible. Its very gorgeous and is great for some glow. : )

I hope this was helpful. : ) Thank you for reading.

May Favorites

Hello Readers : )

This past month, school as finished up and so the following favorite beauty products, I wore during the first three weeks and have been really enjoying them. : )

Rimmel Stay Matte Long Lasting Pressed Powder in 003
This is a very affordable setting powder that I use to set my concealer as well as all over the face. Its great, not great to use to have extra coverage, but is a great drugstore powder.

Milani's Baked Blush in 01 Dolce Pink
This is an amazing drugstore blush, in a very lovely pink shade. I think this is a great blush for everyday; its not too shimmery but gives a gorgeous glow to the cheeks and has enough pigmentation to add some color as well. This shade is a warm pink with gold shimmer, perfect for summer time.

Mac Frost Eyeshadow in Humid

This mac eyeshadow is a frost and I have loved it for the past two months. I apply it over the next favorite, which is a cream eyeshadow, which allows for more green to be seen. Its gorgeous and makes my eyes pop from behind my glasses. : )

Covergirl bombshell Eyeshadow in 305 Color Me Money
I use this as a base for the mac eyeshadow because I love the effect it gives and adds just a bit more green and sparkle. On its on, its not that great, the pigment fading over a couple of hours.

L'Oreal Colour Caresse in Violet Chiffon
This is a gorgeous spring color. This product is like a lip butter, very easy to apply and feels nice on the lips. The color is almost identical to the color on the packaging, being a warm purple color. Its fun, affordable, and easy to apply and great for summer! :)

Parlor Moisturizing Sea Salt Spray
I received this product as a sample from birchbox and have finally have found the best sea salt spray. I purchased a full size and am super happy that I did. Its great to use to add texture to my hair and doesn't make my hair feel greasy or look too shiny. The one downside of this product is the smell. Not very appealing but it doesn't last on my hair, so its not a big problem.

Non Beauty Favorites

Book:

Across the Universe by Beth Revis
I finished this book this past month and am now onto the second of the trilogy. I found this book very to be very interesting and the society is unique. The beginning is a bit slow but that is to be expected with the first of a trilogy and can honestly say that once things start happening, it became hard to put the book down. I definitely recommend this to anyone who likes a young adult, sci-fic novel, with little romance. (the romance isn't in your face and is not part of the main plot)

Movie:

A Single Man
This is a 2009 film directed by Tom Ford and stars Colin Firth, Matthew Goode, and Julianne Moore.
This movie was very different to what I normally watch but I am very glad I watched this movie. You can read the synopsis of the movie here for a better idea of what the movie is about since I don't want to give to much away.
The cinematography for movie alone was absolutely stunning.

That is it for my monthly favorites. Thank you for reading : )

Eye Makeup of the Day #3

Hello Readers : )

This is a very easy and neutral eye makeup look, perfect for work or school : )

First, I used an eyeshadow base. I like Mac's paint pot in Painterly, but Milani's eyeshadow primer is also good.

Next, I lightly dusted the light green (from E.l.f's Brightening Eye Color quad in Teal Dream) along the lid before going in with the gray shimmer shade.

Then I applied the white shade in the inner corners and below my eyebrows.

The brushes I used are E.l.f's Professional Blending eye brush and Sonia Kashuk 109.

I used the E.l.f brush to apply the green shade along the lid and also along the lower lash line. I used Sonia Kashuk's brush to apply the gray shade.

I then applied Kat von D's tattoo liner in trooper and the L'Oreal's Butterfly mascara.

Thank you for reading : )

Top 5 Favorite Lip Stains

Hello Readers : )

Lips stains are my most used lip product mainly for how long they last on the lips versus a lipstick or lipgloss. So here are my top five favorite lip stains.

First, there is Revlon's Just Bitten Lipstain+Balm in Flame and in Desire. The balm end of the product doesn't last very long, as I no longer am able to use it now, and I've had these products for over two years. The balms either fell out, melted, or got squished down. However, the stain is amazing. It lasts quite well on the lips, and the color is very pigmented. The Desire shade is more of a "your-lips-but-better" while Flame is a hot coral-red shade that is perfect for summer. The lipstains are not drying at all and can be used with or without the use of a balm.

Next, there is Revlon's Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in Crush. This is a more satin stain compared to the more matte stains mentioned above. It smells like mint toothpaste which is not bad at all, and feels very nice on the lips. I love this lipstain because although it is glossier, it isn't sticky, and is a beautiful, pigmented plum color, perfect for nighttime. : )

Next, I love NYC Smooch Proof Lipstain in Berry Long Time. This is a very simple stain, and provides a deep mauve plum color. Not much else to say, as it is similar to Revlon's lipstain + balm.

Lastly, I love the Balm's Stainiac lipstain in Beauty Queen. This has a very weird texture, and can be odd when applying it, but after a few coats applied, and a few seconds for it to dry, it is a beautiful "your lips but better" lipstain. It does have an odd smell, but I find this is the best lipstain that allows for multiple ranges in opaqueness. You can apply this very sheer or build it up, which is not something I found in the other lipstains.

Left to Right: Revlon's Lipstain + Balm in Flame, Desire, Revlon's Kissable Balm Stain in Crush, NYC Lipstain in Berry Long Time, and Stainiac lipstain in Beauty Queen

Eye Makeup of the Day #2

Hello Readers : )

This was the makeup I wore last week, only now  being able to write a post about it.
Its a very spring look with some light purples (as you will read on, I didn't use all the colors pictured).

First, I applied a base (not pictured). I used Mac's Painterly paint pot and then took my face powder (Rimmel Stay Matte in 003 Natural) to set it.

Secondly, I applied the lilac shade in the Revlon Illuminance Creme Shadow palette in 711 Black Magic. This is a cream shadow, as the name says and I used my finger to apply this along my lid. This is not a great cream eyeshadow on its own, but using it for the color and for the powder eyeshadow to stick on is great.

I then applied the light pink shimmery shadow from the Almay Intense i-color trio in 404 Smoky-i for greens all over the lid and under the brow bone. Next, I applied Almay's Softies Eyeshadow in 140 Vintage Grape into the crease for some definition. However, it is not very pigmented and I needed to dip my brush into the shadow a couple of times to achieve the definition I wanted.

Those were all the shadows I used in this look. The three other cream eyeshadows from the Revlon palette are okay; the black is great to line my eyes but does need to be set with a black eyeshadow as its rather wet and won't set and dry very well, and isn't very black. For the white and silver shade, I haven't found a use for other then to highlight the inner corners of my eyes if I needed to.

The other two shadows from the Almay Trio I also didn't use but only because I didn't need them and the main shade was too warm for the look I was going for. They are however really good eyeshadows. The trio I used is for green eyes, but I have brown, and I love it, so I don't think it really matters. Be aware however that in the picture of the trio on the website where you can buy it, the pink shadow on top looks cooler than it actually is and the main shadow is looks purple rather than red.

After the eyeshadow was done I applied my usual Kat Von D Tattoo Liner and Mac's Zoom Lash Mascara.
